Is govmu.org inaccessible outside Mauritius?

www.govmu.org

www.govmu.org is the Government Portal for Mauritius. On 26 August, Martin de Navacelle reported that "some key government websites are not configured properly" as that they were causing a "ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS" error when the web sites were accessed in France.

passport.govmu.org

A visitor to http://passport.govmu.org is redirected to the http://passport.govmu.org/Pages/VariationRoot.aspx. When the URI is accessed, there is another redirect to http://passport.govmu.org/English as the SharePoint Server matches the web browser's "accept lang". There is once again a redirect to http://passport.govmu.org/English/Pages/default.aspx. When that URI is accessed, the server returns a status code to indicate that the HTTP request has succeeded.

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

The web browser automatically displays an error when it detects that there are too many redirects (ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS). This is to avoid a redirect loop.

Conclusion

There is a configuration problem affecting the web site of the Passport and Immigration Office. The problem is only noticeable from outside Mauritius. According the the report, the problem also occurred when the web sites of the Prime Minister's Office, the Civil Status Division, the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, Employment and Training, and the Government Information Service were accessed.
