www.youtube.com is a service which allows people to watch videos. The quality of the video stream range from 144p to 1080p (high-definition). I ran a few tests by capturing images at different resolutions to compare the video quality.
The video quality can be adjusted to suit the amount of the Internet bandwidth available.
The following image is from a video at high-definition compared to the video of low quality:

If there is unsufficient Internet bandwidth (download speed) the video stream will pause and the "buffering" icon will be displayed at the centre of the viewer. The recommended bandwidth for streaming a video at medium quality (360p) is 1 Mbps. It is recommended to have 4 Mbps of bandwidth for a high-definition video stream.
A one minute video stream uses approximately 1 MB of data whereas a high-definition video stream uses approximately 15 MB of data. The time to reach the www.youtube.com service in Mauritius is approximately 2 milliseconds whereas the time to reach the www.youtube.com service closest to Mauritius is approximately 210 milliseconds.
